The University of Waterloo is offering foreign and domestic students the opportunity to apply for Graduate Scholarships. For a maximum of three terms, the scholarship is worth $1,000 per term. Graduate students enrolled full-time in a Master’s or Doctoral degree program at the University of Waterloo will be eligible for this scholarship.
Applicants for graduate scholarships must have an overall grade point average of at least 80 percent. All qualified graduates are automatically considered for nomination, and students do not need to submit an application.
Programs at the Master’s and Doctoral levels at the University of Waterloo are eligible for the Canada Graduate Scholarships for 2022-2023.

There are several advantages to receiving a scholarship in any subject.
If you’re thinking about enrolling for three semesters, you should budget at least $1,000 every term (value and duration may vary, depending on other funding the student may be receiving).
Nationalities that are eligible include all those listed below.
Graduate students in the United States and abroad enrolled full-time in a Master’s or Doctoral program are eligible.
At least an 80 percent overall average in the current program or the last two full-time academic years is needed to be considered for admission to the program
The duration of the show must be respected.
There is no need to fill out an application. According to the allocation of funding, departments will automatically propose students.

The ability to speak and write in English (ELP)
The University of Waterloo uses English as its primary medium of instruction. Our job is to ensure that all students have the English language skills they need to succeed.

Accepted ELP exams:
Internet-based Exam for those who wish to study abroad in an English-speaking country (TOEFL)
As a result, TOEFL MyBestTM scores will not be accepted as proof of completion of the ELP requirement.
The Education Testing Service (ETS) can be used to order your TOEFL.

C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency IELTS – International English Language Testing System
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) – Pearson Test of English (academic) EFAS – English for Academic Success – is a language assessment that focuses on academic fluency.

You need to know:
A student’s ELP score is valid for two years after he or she has taken the test.
Visit our ELP program websites to learn more about the specifics of each program.
If you have received a letter from your university declaring that English is the medium of instruction, it does not meet Waterloo standards.
Be sure to take your test at least two months before you plan on submitting an application. Waterloo will receive your certified test score within 4-6 weeks.

If you don’t speak fluent English, you won’t be able to attend
You may be offered conditional admission to a graduate school if you submit an ELP test but fall slightly short of the required score.
Conditional admission may be granted if you are applying with a sponsorship that includes financing for English language studies.

Exemptions from ELP
If any of the following is true at the time of your Waterloo application, you are excluded from submitting an English language proficiency assessment score:
You’ve earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a Canadian college or university. or You hold a post-graduate degree from a Canadian institution of higher learning. You have completed three or more years of post-secondary education, or finished a master’s degree in an exempt countries specified below, in order to be eligible for this program. At least three years of employment in a position where English was the primary language of business in one of the following countries qualifies you for this award. the International Association of Universities (IAU) World Higher Education Database lists English as the only language of instruction for students who have completed three or more years of post-secondary education, or a graduate degree (WHED).
Two years after graduating from a WHED institution, students are no longer eligible for ELP exemption.
